Kaler hat einen MA in <em>Film Making – Directing Fiction</em> von Goldsmiths, University of London (UK). Er studierte <em>Transmediale Kunst</em> an der Universität für Angewandte Kunst Wien und absolvierte den Pilotstudiengang BA <em>Zeitgenössischer Tanz, Kontext, Choreografie</em> am Hochschulübergreifenden Zentrum Tanz an der Universität der Künste Berlin (DE) in 2010.</span></p> <p><span lang="DE" style="font-size: 11pt; font-family: Helvetica;">Als Filmemacher entwickelt Kaler einen intersektionalen Ansatz in der Zusammenarbeit mit einem Team aus queer-feministischen, non-binary und transidentifying, sowie POC Kollaborateur*Innen aus Bereichen wie Cinematographie, Lichtdesign, Schnitt- und Audio, Musik/Soundtrack, Dramaturgie, Postproduktion. Er arbeitet an performativen, choreografischen, narrativen und fiktionalen Kurzfilmen und Videoinstallationen.</span></p> <p><span lang="DE" style="font-size: 11pt; font-family: Helvetica;"> </span></p> <p><span lang="DE" style="font-size: 11pt; font-family: Helvetica;">Viele seiner Arbeiten nehmen gelebte Erfahrung und autobiografische Elemente als Ausgangspunkt eines Prozesses des Filterns, Übersetzens, Neu-Schreibens und Fiktionalisierens. Einige der zentralen Themen seiner Auseinandersetzung verhandeln <em>Embodyment</em> (Verkörperung) und <em>Coming of age</em> aus transmaskuliner und choreografischer Perspektive. Er untersucht das Verhältnis von Figur, Komposition und Zeitlichkeit im Bewegtbild, in <em>still images</em>, sowie über den Körper und in Bewegung.
